Agatha Gothe-Snape: Certain Situations brings together energetic strands of the Sydney artist’s work: visual and spatial interventions, score-based improvisation, and collaboration. Texts, sculptures, moving images, and performances are organised into a series of spaces, merging with the artist’s internal monologues to produce a kind of psychic architecture. Visitors are choreographed by the spaces and objects they encounter.
The exhibition centres on Five Columns, a five-channel video installation by Wrong Solo—Gothe-Snape’s longstanding collaboration with performance artist Brian Fuata. This new work—supported by the IMA and Monash University Museum of Art, and an Australia Council for the Arts New Work Grant—is accompanied by a series of performative, social, and spatial interventions into the gallery.
At 5pm, join Wrong Solo in conversation with Sarah Rodigari, Brooke Stamp, and Lizzie Thomson, collaborators on Five Columns.
