A Brief Moment of Clarity
Amelia McLeish
A Brief Moment of Clarity consists of four iterative and improvised sound performances which explore how contemporary art is portrayed through the lens of popular culture. Amelia McLeish has collated references from movies and TV shows, from the Andy Warhol episode of The Love Boat to Pam’s art exhibition in The Office to Ongo Gablogian’s destruction of a local gallery in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This is how art is portrayed in mass media—sometimes good, sometimes well-meaning if misunderstood, other times devaluing it as junk. These clips overlap to create noise. What can you hear through the noise? Maybe you can only hear yourself and your own opinion of art. What or who informs your perception?
Performances in the IMA Belltower: 28 November, 5 December, 12 December, and 19 December, at 2pm.
