4 December 2021

Join IMA and Outer Space for end of year drinks at the Judith Wright Arts Centre.

Spend the afternoon soaking in CASCADE by Woven Kolektif at Outer Space until 6.30pm before catching IMA exhibitions ‘the churchie’, See/Through, and Becoming Alluvium into the evening.

From 6pm head to the IMA Courtyard for a celebration of all things Filipino, drawing on Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan‘s See/Through. Taste the cuisine and see a fashion show of Filipino garments and cultural performance with Louisa and Merly Parkinson. From 7.30–9pm stick around for Jamming (Filipino slang for hanging out) with Fruitjuice Factori Studio featuring video-ke, food, drinks, and good times.

Guest Info
  • Fruitjuice Factori Studio is a Philippine and Australia-based artist collective composed of Isabel & Alfredo Aquilizan and their five children: Miguel, Diego, Amihan, Leon and Aniway Aquilizan. Their practices span from sculpture and installation work, videography, photography, collage and fashion. As a family collective, they create artworks using humble objects and reused materials to explore the meaning of home, memory, and diaspora. The Fruitjuice Factori Studio is where work meets play; balancing each other to form the community, connectedness and sense of belonging that make up their whole art practice.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
