Discover an innovative printing technique in this artist-led workshop with Debbie Taylor Worley. Gel printing (or gelli printing) is a form of mono-printing that uses gelatin printing plates to create interesting textures and layers of colour. Taylor Worley will guide participants through an exploration of this medium using hand cut stencils. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with printing experience wanting to explore new techniques.

  • Debbie Taylor Worley was a finalist in last year’s The Churchie Emerging Art Prize. She works with clay and textiles. A ‘hands-on’ artist, she relishes making. Her works address female empowerment, symbols used in ‘women’s business’ rituals (both within the Gamilaraay nation and within the European nations associated with her bicultural heritage), and retelling colonial history. Referencing natural and foraged materials connected to Country and working within the landscape and directly on the ground, her work draws on ancestral and intuitive guidance to bridge  cultural divides.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
