Learn how to design and construct your own handmade photobook with photographer Louis Lim.

Lim will share his experiences making photobooks as part of his practice, discussing different design possibilities and the sculptural potential of books as art objects. Learn how to design with the experience of the viewer in mind and create multi-layered publications.

Learn basic bookbinding techniques including pamphlet binding and kettle stitch binding and create your own handmade visual diary to take home and add your own photos, text or drawings. With your newfound skills, explore the potential of handmade photobooks in your next project.

Biography
Louis Lim is a Brisbane-based photographer and photobook-maker whose work explores the diversity of human experiences, specifically narratives that are under-represented in mainstream media. His work has been exhibited in several Australian galleries and presented internationality. Most recently, his work in collaboration with Beth Jackson, ‘… there is no end’ has been shortlisted in Singapore International Photography Festival Photo Book Showcase 2018, and 2018 Libris Award with acquisition by Artspace Mackay. He has also exhibited his photobook with live bookbinding demonstration in Central Embassy Open House as part of Photo Bangkok Festival. Lim has attended the highly regarded Reminders Photography Stronghold Masterclass and is currently developing his personal photobook project.
