Tokyo’s Tenniscoats have created an expansive and evocative songbook over more than two decades. Musicians Saya and Ueno operate across a multicoloured spectrum of lush pop melody, folk psychedelia, unsteady electronics and drifting ambient songscapes. They are a beacon of inspiration in the music world, expanding the limits of the pop song. Their latest recording, Zenvu Yume, epitomises this restless spirit, forging new routes in their practice and in song production.
Tennicoats are joined in by Swiss producer and experimentalist Luca Forcucci. Working across numerous musical projects, Forcucci has developed a body of work that speaks to his interests in dynamic electronics and diverse musical cultures. His recent albums have dwelled on themes of found sound, rhythm and the intersections between various cultural and musical traditions.
