French experimentalist Félicia Atkinson brings her captivating sounds to the IMA. Through her lush Fender Rhodes, field recordings, and spoken word in both French and English, she offers a unique experience of stretching and folding time. She is known for her works on her label (run with Bartolomé Sanson) and has collaborated with musicians including Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Chris Watson, Christina Vantzou, and Stephen O’Malley. She has performed at venues and festivals, including INA GRM/Maison de la Radio and the Philharmonie (Paris), Volksbühne (Berlin), the Barbican Centre (London), Le Guess Who (Utrecht), Atonal (Berlin), Issue Project Room (NYC), Henie Onstad (Oslo), Unsound (Krakow), and Skanu Mesz (Riga).

Atkinson will be supported by Brisbane/Meanjin project Noir et Blanc (Amber Ramsay) and Spirit Lights (Joshua MacGregor). This collaboration has featured on radio stations 4ZZZ KEXP and Triple R, and released albums on 4000 Records. They will perform together using modular synthesiser and piano to give a narrated conceptual and meditative journey.

Mono is our experimental-sound performance series, curated by Room40.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
