In partnership with Brisbane Pride Festival join artist Courtney Coombs for an afternoon of Queer sign making. Choose from vibrant coloured materials, and toy with words to create your own powerful message in celebration of Pride!
Coombs is an interdisciplinary artist based in Brisbane who works with sign making in their feminist practice. They are a passionate political activist grappling with the nexus of art and life. Their practice critiques the heteronormative, patriarchal structures of both the art world and society more broadly using strategies such as subjective voice, personal narrative, humour, metaphor and re-appropriating the clichés of romantic love.
Join Coombs for a colourful and invigorating afternoon in the IMA Berwick St Courtyard making placards for Brisbane Pride Festival’s March on the 23 September. With special thanks to Eckersley’s Art & Craft, Oxlades Art Supplies, and LEVEL ARI for their support.
This is an inclusive event, with all welcome.
Free, with bookings required. Register on Eventbrite here.
