Jeremy Hynes Award Guidelines

Eligibility

We welcome applications from artists who are from or currently based in Queensland and in the first ten years of their professional practice. Applications from past shortlisted applicants are welcome.

Assessment

Applications open 1 October and close midnight 3 November 2019.

Applicants will be assessed by a panel of industry experts based on the following criteria

—Overall artistic practice to date

—Level of ambition and evidence of artistic risk taking in proposed exhibition

—Impact of opportunity

This criterion will be assessed with the support of the written responses, CV, portfolio, and linked content.

The recipient will be announced in November 2019. All decisions made are final and are at the discretion of the selection panel.

Award

The recipient of the Jeremy Hynes Award will receive a $10,000 cash award and a solo presentation in one of the IMA’s galleries in mid 2020. In-house support for development and presentation will be provided, and IMA staff will work closely with the recipient to realise the exhibition.

This year’s judges are artists Justene Williams, Tony Albert, and IMA Director Liz Nowell.
