An update regarding COVID-19

17 March 2020

The Institute of Modern Art’s first priority is the health our artists, staff and audience. As a proactive and precautionary measure, we have decided to close the IMA until further notice. This includes our main galleries, IMA Belltower, gallery shop, public programs, and group tours.

Updates will be available via our website and social media channels.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best during this time of uncertainty and upheaval. In particular we acknowledge the many artists and art workers who are impacted by this unprecedented situation.

Thank you to everyone for your understanding and ongoing support.

Take care. Be well. Look after one another.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
