Job Title:  Public Programs Assistant

FTE: 0.6 FTE, 22.5 hours per week

Salary: $60–65,000 per annum, pro rata + 10.5% superannuation

 

About the role

The IMA is looking for a highly motivated Public Programs Assistant to deliver public programs and events at the IMA.

Each year the IMA delivers a breadth of public programs, including exhibition openings,  talks, screenings, guided exhibition tours, live performances, book launches and shop promotions. 2025 will be the IMA’s 50th Birthday and provides a unique opportunity for an incoming Public Programs Assistant. The Public Programs Assistant will work closely with the Director and Assistant Director to develop and deliver a responsive series of events.

This is a hands-on position in a small team, where you will be expected to work across all aspects of event planning and delivery. Please note that this position involves evening and weekend hours. To meet the objectives of the role, flexible working arrangements can be negotiated.

  

Selection Criteria

(Essential)
– A knowledge of contemporary visual arts.
– Highly motivated and passionate about working with diverse communities and audiences.
– Outstanding interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills.
– Strong organisational and time-management skills, and the ability to problem solve under pressure.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
– Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

(Desirable)
– Demonstrated experience delivering public-programs or events, preferably within a cultural organisation.
– Experience in managing budgets, including applying for and acquitting grant funding
– Working knowledge of digital-event delivery.
– Knowledge of technical requirements such as projectors, PAs, laptops, internet connections ability to trouble-shoot.
– Ability to edit audio, video, and oversee live stream events.
– Current RSA and First Aid certificate.
