Art Monthly Australasia Special Edition

Guest edited by @tonyalbert and supported by @fondationcartier, this issue documents and reflects upon works that were commissioned from 14 First Nations artists and collectives for the recent 24th Biennale of Sydney: ‘Ten Thousand Suns’, which was curated by @cosmincostinas and @intiatawalpa.

Albert was the biennale’s Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain First Nations Curatorial Fellow, a role in which he worked with these 14 First Nations artists from around the world to bring their creative visions to life—a collaboration that continues in the pages of this special edition of Art Monthly Australasia.

The artists commissioned by the Fondation Cartier to make new works for the biennale—and featured in this issue—are Kaylene Whiskey, who appears on the cover, Darrell Sibosado, Doreen Chapman, Cristina Flores Pescoran @cristina.flores.pescoran, Dylan Mooney @dylanmooney__ , Gail Mabo @gailmabo, Eric-Paul Riege @ericpaulriege, Freddy Mamani @freddy_mamani_silvestre, John Pule @surrealist_likupoet, Mangala Bai Maravi @mangalabaimaravi, Megan Cope @nutmegandhoney, Orquídeas Barrileteras @orquideas_barrileteras, Nikau Hindin @nikaugabrielle and Yangamini.
