Issue 8 – Chapter I – Body as an Intermediary Object
Dear Reader, let’s think together about a body as an intermediary object. To do so. I give you a fictional story, a story that is slipping off the traditional forms and sometimes perhaps slipping off of the English Language. I am a lover of fiction; it has a physicality, it is a temporal body on its own. It lives with my breath while I read it and it dies when I finish. But not quite, my breathcontinues and with that, the echo of the storu alter my perception of the daily. It challenges me, helps me to re-imagine and motivates me to fo on in these ripped times. Feminist science fiction has the potential to draw and trangress divides upheld by governing structures. This story attemps the same. You will read through encounters that stem from live and zoom meetings with ineLe Yamomo and Amanda Elida Varhaugvik. Their trace, impluse, and impact inspire me to recreate these encounter in this story, hoping to bring you, the reader, closer to a possibility of bodily experience. Yours truly, eva susova.
With this issue, Current Obsession introduces an experimental publishing model, with the magazine being released chapter by chapter throughout the year, instead of all at once. Each chapter comes a result of an in-real-life activation, in the case of this issue – an evening of performances and conversations, a workshop, a studio visits and panel discussion, and a museum archive visit. The final content is, therefore, not defined in advanced, but rather, created together with our public. We set out with a premise, an idea, and we ask others to join us in conversation, shaping the outcome together.
